One thing that is prevalent in my line of work is cosmetics, cosmetics, and more cosmetics. And no, I'm not complaining. Makeup is fun! But it can also wreak havoc. Thankfully, skincare products are a weakness of mine.
One beauty item that seems to be increasing in popularity is the sheet mask. Basically a mask that, instead of coming in a clay or lotion form encased a tube or jar, it is actually a sheet and the beneficial emollients are infused into the mask. After hearing quite a bit about these sheet masks, I decided to try one out for myself and ended up buying the Young Living ART Sheet Beauty Mask. I do love the Young Living products, particularly their ART skincare line and I was looking forward to seeing how their sheet mask would work for me.

After tearing open the silver pack, out comes the sheet mask. It is indeed a white sheet with holes in the eye and mouth areas. You can feel the oils and other botanical extracts/emollients immediately while handling the mask and the aroma is heavenly. Some of the ingredients include frankincense oil (love me some frankincense), orchid flower extract, lavender oil, sea kelp extract, and cedarwood oil. So I'm very happy with the ingredients (yes, I'm one of "those people" that always reads the packaging and ingredients...hey, if we are talking about something I'm either going to ingest or put on my body I like to be informed). So after seeing what exactly was in this, the moment of truth came. I unfolded the mask and placed it on my face.
This was me while wearing the mask (I apologize profusely if you will never be able to unsee this). And yes, you can be upright and walk about the house (or venture outside if you feel like alarming your neighbors a little...I'm not going to lie and say that the thought is not at least a slightly tempting one) while wearing it.
I can't decide whether I look like Phantom of the Opera or Silence of the Lambs. Or Ogre from Skinny Puppy when he's in his Repo! The Genetic Opera role. Maybe I'll make a poll?

Scary visuals aside, the mask itself felt amazing while wearing it. So much, that I almost doubted whether I was going to even want to take it off. The directions on the packaging state that you are to leave it on for 20 minutes. I do prefer to leave in on a bit longer as the whole idea is to allow the oils and other botanical extracts within the sheet mask to seep into your skin. I find that after 20 minutes, the mask is still slightly damp and I would not want all those lovely essential oils going to waste.
I will say that during the time I wore this, it was great chilling out, reading a book and just experiencing the oils and extracts seeping into my skin cells. There was also a nice breeze coming in through the window which made it even better.
When the sheet mask was finally dry and I removed it, the skin on my face did look more glowy and felt extremely soft. I even noticed a slight improvement in the texture.
In the end, I absolutely fell in love with this product. My only complaint was in the section of the mask that rests between the nose and upper lip. After a couple minutes, it started to really bother me, so I ended up cutting out that particular section. Other than that though, I do recommend it. :) The only drawback is that it is a bit spendy, but I personally think it's worth it. Plus I get the YL products at a wholesale price, which definitely helps! :)
My next product review will be on Eddie Funkhouser Cosmetics. Eddie is a lovely person and I was introduced to EFC by a mutual friend. I took advantage of the Memorial Day blowout sale on Eddie's website and have been using the makeup. I look forward to bringing it all to you and hopefully give you a few new things to check out and try. :)
